Mixed Berry Summer Sangria

This recipe will make about 8 servings. It can easily be doubled or tripled if a bigger batch is needed.

mixed berry summer sangria ingredients

2 cups sliced strawberries
1 cup blueberries
1 cup raspberries
2 sliced peaches
¼ cup mint leaves
1 medium lemon, thinly sliced
1 750ml bottle white wine
2 cups orange (or peach) juice
2 cups chilled sparkling water

Which Wine to Use?

Sangria originated in Spain, which has a long history of producing amazing wines. So, do you need to use Spanish wine for your sangria? Nope. My rule of thumb when it comes to choosing the best wine for sangria is to use what I like. It’s really that simple.

I tend to stick with a dry and acidic type of wine like any of the following:

Pinot Grigio
Sauvignon Blanc

As I said, it is all dependent upon your preference. Don’t tell anyone, but I have been known to use wines I have been gifted that I am not crazy about. Making a fruity adult punch out of them ensures they won’t go to waste!

Easy Steps To Make Summer Sangria

The combination of fresh berries, juicy peaches, and aromatic mint, paired with the crispness of white wine and the effervescence of sparkling water, creates a beverage that’s perfect for any summer occasion.

making summer sangria with mixed berries and fresh mint

Start by gathering your fresh fruit. In a large serving pitcher, combine the sliced strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and peaches.

Cool Bean Cooking Tip: Use a wooden spoon to gently muddle the fruit. This step is crucial as it helps to release the natural juices and flavors, ensuring they infuse beautifully with the rest of the ingredients.

Next, add the thinly sliced lemon, white wine, and peach or orange juice to the pitcher. Stir the mixture well to combine all the ingredients. The blend of citrusy lemon with the sweetness of the peach juice creates a deliciously balanced base for the sangria.

Place the pitcher in the refrigerator and allow the sangria to chill for at least one hour. For an even more intense flavor, let it chill for several hours or overnight. This resting period allows the flavors to meld together, creating a more cohesive and flavorful drink

Just before you’re ready to serve, add the chilled sparkling water to the pitcher. The addition of sparkling water not only adds a delightful fizz but also lightens the drink, making it even more refreshing.
