Let me tell you, I’m a sucker for a recipe that delivers big taste without a big fuss. This one checks all the boxes. It reminds me of the first time I tried to make fudge as a teen and ended up with a sticky chocolate blob that refused to set. Fast forward to adulthood, I finally cracked the code…with a shortcut version that’s so creamy and indulgent, no one would guess it took less than 10 minutes of actual work. Throw in some crunchy walnuts and a sprinkle of sea salt, and it’s basically fudge royalty.

Easy Chocolate Walnut Fudge

ingredients for making chocolate fudge with walnuts

Ingredients:

10 oz milk chocolate (roughly chopped)
8 oz dark chocolate (roughly chopped)
14 oz sweetened condensed milk
2 tsp vanilla extract
⅛ tsp salt
¾ cup walnuts (chopped)
Coarse sea salt (optional)

How to Make Beginner-Friendly Fudge

Prep the pan: Line an 8- or 9-inch square baking dish with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on all sides for easy removal.

Melting chocoloate to make fudge

Melt the chocolate: In a medium saucepan over low heat, combine the chopped milk chocolate, dark chocolate, and sweetened condensed milk. Stir frequently until the chocolate is melted and the mixture is smooth and thick (about 5–6 minutes).

Add flavor: Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and salt.

Add in the walnuts

Add crunch: Fold in the chopped walnuts.

Set it: Pour the mixture into your prepared pan and smooth out the top. Sprinkle with coarse sea salt, if desired.

Chill: Refrigerate for 2–3 hours until fully set.

Slice and serve: Lift the fudge out using the parchment overhang and cut into squares. Try not to eat them all in one sitting. (I say “try” loosely.)

Fudge Variations

  • Nut-free: Skip the walnuts or swap them with mini marshmallows or crushed pretzels for crunch without nuts.

  • Add-ins: Stir in dried cranberries, chopped dried cherries, or white chocolate chips.

  • Peanut Butter Swirl: Drop dollops of peanut butter on top before refrigerating and swirl it in with a knife.

  • Spiced: Add a pinch of cinnamon or cayenne for a little kick.

Can Fudge Be Frozen?

Yes! This easy homemade fudge freezes beautifully. Once it’s fully set, cut it into squares and store in an airtight container, using parchment or wax paper between layers. It’ll keep in the freezer for up to 3 months. When you’re ready to enjoy, just let it thaw in the fridge or at room temperature. (Pro tip: sneaking a frozen square is also totally acceptable.)
